Position: Full Time Public Health Nurse
Salary: Competitive salary and benefits, including pension plan
Requirements: Current IL license as RN, completion of Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, current CPR certification from AHA. Must have reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and minimum state required liability auto insurance.
Bi-lingual (Spanish, Polish or Arabic) preferred
Working condition: May involve standing/walking extended periods of the day.
Job Description: To provide professional public health nursing services to a diverse multicultural population in a variety of settings. Work involves responsibility for providing professional nursing treatment and care to clients according to established rules, regulations and standard practices of the profession. Services include, but are not limited to health education, disease prevention and health promotion, primary care in the clinic areas, nutritional counseling in WIC, Communicable Disease surveillance and response, Covid-19 response related activities including testing and vaccination, and variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of duty.
Job duties:
Provides direct public health nursing to clients in a clinic, community or home setting including assessment, health education, counseling, referring patients to other community services
Provides nutritional counseling to WIC participants
Works with local schools and daycares
Functions as a member of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control team, is responsible for disease investigation and surveillance of reportable diseases including STIs
Educates patients, both individually and in small groups
Provides appropriate referral information to clients
Completes required documentation in the electronic medical record
Participates in emergency response activities as assigned
Clinic setting - completes medical assessment of patients, completes work/school physicals, administers immunizations and other injections, provides patient education on disease prevention and health promotion, assists with in office procedures
