Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is an infection from a virus, Monkeypox virus. People with mpox often get a rash and may also have fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, exhaustion, muscle/back aches, headache, and/or respiratory symptoms (sore throat, nasal congestion, cough).
Mpox spreads through direct contact with infected animals, close contact (including intimate contact) with a person with mpox, and/or direct contact with contaminated materials.
